L.L.Bean Review 2026: All-Weather Rockers, Adirondacks and Garden Clogs for Every Season
Picture the porch at six in the evening. The hydrangeas have gone soft and papery, the lawn smells of the last cut of the season, and there's a rocker waiting with a striped throw over one arm. Your boots are by the door, still a little muddy from the vegetable bed. Nobody's rushing anywhere.
That's the corner of L.L.Bean most people forget about. Everyone knows the boots and the canvas totes, but the Maine outfitter also sells a full backyard and patio range: all-weather Adirondack chairs, rockers, garden benches, hammocks, indoor/outdoor rugs and gear for long evenings outside. We went through that range, plus the prices and policies on llbean.com, in October 2026. Here's what's worth your yard space.
The Story: A Maine Outfitter Built on a Refund
L.L.Bean's product pages tell the origin story in the brand's own words. Its founder, L.L., introduced the rubber-bottomed Bean Boot in 1912. When 90 of his first 100 pairs came back with a problem, he sent out refunds and fixed the design. More than a century later, the company says Bean Boots are still handcrafted in Brunswick, Maine, one pair at a time.
The Boat and Tote has a similar backstory. L.L.Bean says it has made the tote in Maine since 1944, when it was first introduced as "Bean's Ice Carrier." That same practical, keep-it-for-years thinking runs through the backyard collection.
What Makes It Different: Furniture That Stays Out All Year
The heart of L.L.Bean's patio line is the All-Weather collection. Its listings describe frames made from HDPE (high-density polyethylene) lumber that contains up to 20% recycled materials. The product copy for the Waterfall Adirondack Chair says it won't rot, warp, crack or splinter, and it never needs painting. So you can leave the chairs on the lawn through rain and sun instead of hauling them into the garage every weekend.
The specs are sturdy too. On L.L.Bean's listings:
- All-Weather Garden Bench: 35¼"H x 48½"W x 24"D, 51 lb, rated for 650 lb, with marine-grade stainless hardware. That's room for two people and a pot of coffee between them.
- All-Weather Porch Rocker: 42½"H x 26¼"W x 33¾"D, 17½" seat height, rated for 325 lb.
- All-Weather Waterfall Adirondack Chair: 35"H x 29¼"W x 32¾"D, 13¾" seat height, 34 lb, rated for 325 lb. It pairs with the All-Weather Adirondack Footstool.
Footwear follows the same idea. The Women's Bean Light Wellie® Garden Clogs have a waterproof rubber upper, a siped VertiGrip rubber outsole and a slip-on design. L.L.Bean says they're made for working in the garden or walking in the rain, so you can step out to the compost bin without lacing anything up.

Adirondack, rocker or bench?
Buy the Adirondack if your yard is about lounging. The low, reclined seat (13¾" on the Waterfall) is made for a fire pit or a lake view. Buy the Porch Rocker if you want an upright seat at a normal 17½" height that's easy to get in and out of. Pick the Garden Bench if you'd like one piece that seats two and anchors a planting bed. Its 650 lb rating and stainless hardware mean it can stay put all year.
The hammock setup
L.L.Bean describes the Backyard Duracord Hammock as 13' x 55", woven from moisture-wicking DuraCord that resists mildew, stains and fading. The spreaders are weather-resistant oak, and the rust-resistant steel hanging hardware is included. The stand and pillows are sold separately, so budget for the Hammock Stand if you don't have two well-spaced trees.
Clogs or Bean Boots for the garden?
The Garden Clogs are for quick trips: watering, picking tomatoes, letting the dog out. They're waterproof up to 1 cm below the top of the rubber, and L.L.Bean says half sizes should order up. Bean Boots are for real mud. The 6" style has a waterproof rubber bottom, a leather upper and the chain-tread outsole, and is waterproof to just below the stitching. Size a full size down from your regular shoe size, per L.L.Bean's fit note. A quote from The New York Times Wirecutter on L.L.Bean's homepage calls the women's Bean Boot "one of the most thoughtfully designed pieces of gear for being outdoors."

Our Verdict
L.L.Bean's backyard range shares the same idea as its boots: build it plainly, make it last, and stand behind it for a full year. The All-Weather rockers, benches and Adirondacks cost more than big-box patio sets, but the HDPE build, the heavy load ratings and the long return window make that easier to justify. Add a pair of garden clogs and you're set from the flower bed to the porch. Check our L.L.Bean deals page before you order so you don't miss the current offer.
